Update August 5: All sites are now parked on the first page. The main problem now is that there are YouTube and image results on what appears to be place 2, 3 and 4, so my sites appear at positions 5,6,7 and 8 instead of 2,3,4 and 5. According to first page click share estimates, my sites now get 15% of the clicks instead of the 31% I would get if those results were not there. The top placement alone would give more that all my sites in either case, though.
The idea to once and for all find out how big of a difference the .com, .org, .net and .info top domains will cause in the search results came when I was buying the .com domain for fulldragon and the registrar flashes me a promotion to get 60% off for the other top domains. I fell for their offer and decided to do an interesting test. The term full dragon is a very common search term among Runescape players and it also has some decent competition so a good placement does not come for free. According to Google it has 2,900 searches per month with exact match.
Said and done, the domains are all placed on american servers and running identical wordpress installs and template. There is an article about the full dragon that was written by my collegue and it actually contains very good information that will keep visitors on the site and even appreciate the visit. In order to give the sites equal link power, I will link to them in reverse order on another site. The sites are: www.fulldragon.com, www.fulldragon.org, www.fulldragon.net and www.fulldragon.info.
